Don't Be Judgmental

Hey folks,
I am busy with certain commitments. That’s the reason why I am not able to put up posts often. I thank all my friends who cared to ask how I am and even those who did not ask. I hope one of my friends' anger about me not posting anything new will subside with this one.  A new session has begun in school. An incident happened over there which made me think about how wrong we could be at times.

One of the students was notoriously naughty. All the teachers had negative opinion about her. In fact, I had taught her in Nursery class and I knew that she was naughty. But her naughtiness did not harm anyone. It’s another matter that she never used to sit at one place. Almost every day, she was punished and her school diary was full of teachers’ remarks. Teachers were so fed up with her that they just left her on her own. She herself was so used to punishment that it did not affect her in any way.  Now, after four years I was going to teach that batch again. I thought about it. How can I manage to teach if my time were spent in scolding students? Moreover, another teacher had also told that this particular girl was the naughtiest one in the class and was totally unmanageable. I dreaded to go to that class but did I have any option? When I reached the class, I looked out for that girl. Funnily, she was sitting on the first bench itself. I began teaching. When the class was going on I looked at that girl often. May be, she was used to such glances. But I was stunned. She was sitting quietly. When I asked her questions, she gave reply nicely. I patted her on her cheek and told her that I was happy to see her behave so well. She gave me a big smile. I realized that I too had committed the same mistake that many teachers often commit. How easy it is to label a child as naughty and unmanageable! We don’t leave any scope for improvement when we say so. It means that a naughty child would always remain naughty even when she improves. When the class got over, I came out, ashamed at my mistake and wiser with the thought that there is always scope for improvement in life. Only thing required is a chance, a helping hand.
